Hua Hin City Municipality has issued an official notice asking both residents and tourists not to set off fireworks or release sky lanterns during this year’s Loy Krathong Festival on Wednesday, November 5. The temporary ban is intended to reduce the risk of fires, injuries, and property damage during the festivities.

According to the municipal statement, the use or release of firecrackers, fireworks, and all kinds of sky lanterns—including talai, khom loi, khom fai, and khom khwanis strictly prohibited unless prior authorization is obtained from the local District Chief Officer.

Anyone caught violating this rule may face legal penalties, including up to three months in jail or a fine of up to 25,000 baht, as stated under Section 74 of the applicable law. In more severe cases, offenders could also face up to three years in prison or fines reaching 60,000 baht, in accordance with Clause 5 of the NCPO Order No. 27/2559 (June 10, 2016).

The municipality emphasized that community cooperation is vital for ensuring a safe and peaceful festival, urging everyone to celebrate Loy Krathong in a responsible and eco-friendly way.

Celebrate Loy Krathong Safely

Officials encouraged the public to opt for biodegradable krathongs and to avoid open flames or flying lanterns, which could easily cause fires.

The municipality also expressed its gratitude for public understanding and support, noting that with everyone’s cooperation, Hua Hin can enjoy a joyful and accident-free Loy Krathong celebration this year.
